Hacker deleting folder on a Hard drive during FTP

Postby niche » 11 Dec 2016, 04:17

Is it possible for a hacker to delete all the files from the hard drive of a laptop using a FTP software? The deleted files are not present in the recycled bin also.
Has anyone deleted all your files on the laptop

Has never happened to me. I think hackers can hack your laptop via the network or internet...

When hacker hacks into the machine. They don't use FTP. The protocol for that woould be different. Also you can't access operating system function through FTP. This looks like job of virus not hacker. There are virus and rootkit that can get downloaded like this that can do such damage.

Sound like backdoor trojan to me. The worst you could get is to have a hacker spying on your personal information, remotely. I don't care if their viruses delete my folder, but my bank and email accounts' password. By the way, these craps are transmitted mostly from pop up ads, so be careful not to delve further into ads that pop up a new window. If you carefully engage the ads, you'll do okay.
