Link Directories

Postby Sam » 06 Sep 2013, 06:36

Do you think link directories are still good for SEO purposes? Do you still submit to them? DMOZ is the only one I'd really bother with listing in if they actually listed sites that were submitted.

I personally think that they do serve some purpose. I do only submit to ones that look well managed and that are not filled with loads of spammy sites.

I still think that directories can help, but that you should be selective as to the directories where you submit your site.

With regards to DMOZ, I still submit my sites and I believe the best policy is to take your time, submit carefully to the most appropriate category and with a carefully written site description etc. Then forget about it, because it seems to take about 18 months before they approve submissions and there is nothing you can do to speed up the process.

I cant really be bothered to submit my forum to link directories, I could spend a week doing that and get little to no benefit out of it.

They can benefit in some ways however there is more effective methods out there. If I see a good one I may submit on the off chance it gets approved however I don't spend time going out to submit to them.
