How does this site control/stop bots?

Postby Cloudlin » 27 Apr 2015, 23:40

Just out of curiosity, how do you guys prevent spam bots from autoposting for coins? There doesn't really seem to be distinctions between posts of good quality content and just random one word posts, in the end you still get the same amount of coins.

Hey !

Good question out there !
I think Fergal and CyberFreak have the experience of forum to know when a "spam account" is present.
Since they are very active over here, they would see for sure id the account is spam or not.

There is, and I am pretty sure, tools that are installed in their forum administration panel to stop and/or reduce spam (A little bit like the Akismet plugin on Wordpress) but for MyBB.

The best thing to do is to ask in PM to Fergal and CyberFreak. They will, more than in this post, be able to help you and answer all of your questions you'll got.

And don't worry, I am sure they would be happy to answer your question !

Hope I help a little bit and that you'll get all the answer you want,

Jordan

We have spam blocks and protection in place and CyberFreak knows a lot more about that than I do. We are also experienced forum admins who are active on ForumCoin. Hence, we can quickly spot and ban any bot accounts, that do make it through our automated protection.

Captcha would make the forum difficult. they are clever enough to know spams :)

Yes but Fergal manually pays out for gifts. He can always check the post quality and if it were a spam bot, I'm sure it would be easy to spot.

No you will not get blocked for that. You can post as often as you wish, once your posts comply with our guidelines.

I don't think so, from what I have read. You can post unlimited but you will only be paid for the first 25 post you made.
