Learning to Code!

Postby Masterminor » 06 May 2015, 02:19

I am happy to say, that I am currently taking a computer course that will teach me to code in JavaScript. No spoilers please! If I need help I will ask. I just started today and learned a few basic shape commands. I even successfully drew a sunset. My dad is an IT and I'm sure he'll be so proud! :)

Hey, congrats on deciding to learn how to code :)
What do you plan to do with that knowledge later on? Perhaps you want to make an app?

I always wanted to be a programmer someday but I never had the chance. Anyway, I am interested to learn even now.

Sounds like a plan, Masterminor! What made you decide to do it and why JavaScript instead of PHP, Ruby etc?

There's a plethora of websites offering programming courses for free and there's a good chance you know most of them already but just in case please see below:

    Udemy
    Khan Academy
    Code Academy
    TreeHouse
    Udacity
    CodeHS
    Coder Dojo
    Peep Code

Best of Luck!

Because JavaScript is the only one I heard of and the only option I saw thus far in Khan Academy.

C/C++ is a good one to start out with too.
Theres a lot of resources at MIT opencourseware. They have full video lectures and course materials!

How exciting is it to think that we can command things to do things in the world of computing. I like to learn all that someday.

I'm trying JavaScript, but regretfully my computer is now obsolete and busted. So I'll have to pause it until I get a new one.
