Buying Images or Going for Free

Postby cinderella » 03 Oct 2018, 20:53

I am aware that as much as possible, we should be using our own photos or images in our blog. However, for some reason such as, we might not be born with skills in photography, we opted to use online images. Are you using the free images that can be found online or you buy the needed image for your blog? Please share the sites where you get the images.

I can never buy an image to use.
Yes, being a blogger has made me learn so many things. In fact, taking my own images is something I have proven worth since those images are posted for the first time on the internet and thus me being their original author. Bought images have a problem. You find them on site a and site b thus making one not in position to distinguish who owns the copyright. I rather take my own images than buying them.

If you are a graphic designer, it is very important that you get a unique image. Therefore, buying becomes important for a designer. However, if you are a normal writer who wants to add images to the post, you can loo for free images.

Can you suggest sites that you are using to get free images? I am currently using Pixabay for my Bitlanders blog posts and so far everything is fine. Can I edit those images?

I don't buy images that I use with my online contents. I get them from Pixabay for free. Had I been a designer, I would have bought images because I do not want my designs to show overtly used images.

Does it help in SEO if we will buy images? If we did, can we edit those images and do we still need to place credits when using purchased images?

Two good ones that I use are:
https://burst.shopify.com
https://pexels.com

They have very high quality free stock photos.

You can also do an advanced search on Google images to find images which allow reuse.

Thank you Sam for the information. Actually, I was planning to set up a travel blog where I will be using my own photos. But currently, I am short of the necessary fund so I couldn't buy my own camera so I am setting aside this plan first and instead would concentrate first in setting up a blog about finance and career. I am still in the process of learning how I could get some high-quality photo by using a phone but to no avail. Though I still prefer to use my own photos, if it won't be possible yet, I would try those recommended sites.

I prefer to use my own photos rather than to use or buy images.
Othwise i would draw images or just opt them out.

If you can use your own images it would be even better because you would have a copyright on them and users will be attracted since they may not have seen that photo anywhere.

I am not a blogger but I am a web designer but I use free photos in designing for obvious legal reason. I recommend unsplash, another provider of stunning free photos if you did not find any images from pixabay that suits with your blog article.
