Does your Blog take up more time than you thought it would?

Postby thisnthat » 26 May 2015, 21:17

Did you know when you started your blog that it would take as much time as it does? A good blog tends to take a lot of time to keep up with it. I expected it to be somewhat time consuming and to require effort, but the amount of time I need to do it right, is beyond my current ability.

Do you spend more time on your blog than you thought you would?

Well since I am terrible at updating I can say it does not. I would like to continue working at it though and having it take up more time since that would be a good thing for me really. Really good written blogs probably take up lots of a persons time I think.

Ha, well, that's a good point. If you don't update it doesn't take up any time at all.

I'm going to have to find better ways to get and stay organized. Now, if everyone else would just cooperate. Working from home has its own challenges!

Keeping fresh content and regular posting does require a lot of work. Except for the few prominent bloggers who have large followings, the financial return on the effort may never seem worth it. You had better enjoy sharing your thoughts with others.

My twitter is starting to get more people as of recent so I probably should really start pumping out new content. It would be a good idea I reckon. I think my problem is organization for the blog in general and just needing to make money other ways that are quicker.

That's part of my problem too. I need to always be doing something that makes money now. I love my blog though. I want to spend my time working on it. I'm going to figure out a schedule that allows for both (plus everything else I have on my plate).

As a matter of fact, my blog is taking LESS time than I originally thought it would. Now that I have the basic framework and concepts in place, I just go about doing the normal activities (like posting here) that I do anyway to make money and during the course of the day, I will run across some post or comment that triggers a new thought I can blog about. I don't try to write a mini-ebook (I don't read those myself, so why would I write one) but try to transfer valuable ideas, so readers will come back and bring their friends. It's no more work than it was for me to write this comment and very little more to add an appropriate image to go with it. I spend way more time promoting it, than I ever do writing for it, but that's what I would be doing anyway.

my blogs don't take up time but it is harder to come up with content than I expected for my videogame blog since I don't buy new games every week and don't have a gamefly account. so im going to have to invent some features that are game related that I can maintain my blog with

I don't have a blog anymore but when I used to have one I used to spend a lot on time on it. I want to create another blog but I am thinking about the topics I am going to talk about. I remember that having a blog was a hard work, it was about games and I had to test and review them.

I have six to seven blogs to maintain. I don't find they won't take a lot of time in updating them. I have system on how to update the articles. I don't employ anyone I did it for myself. I have been in blogging job for almost four year now for I started sometime in 2011.

When I first started my blogs, I already knew that they would take up a lot of time to get off the ground, so it is not shocking to me really.

at blogjob, I have 13 blog sites to maintain, I should have planned before creating so many sites. It is hard to maintain all of them daily. I only focus on those that I am familiar daily

I'm very new to blogging and had an idea that it wasn't going to be easy. I've just joined BlogJob and I deliberately decided to start off with just three blogs because I didn't want to become too bogged down with it all. I've only just got round to setting them up, and I thought that was hard work LOL Now I need to come up with writing ideas, and it's not very easy! -Not that I ever expected it to be.

I'll answer it with yes because you don't just have to regularly update it but you'll also have to take care of other things like maintenance, design, commenting, Seo, promotion, analytics reports, google search console analysis and sometimes just thinking about what to do next ?

Yes, it's too much work. Right from the themes, the looks, the widgets, etc, to the posts you write, everything consumes a lot of time. I now have just 7 articles in my blog and I'm already struggling to get new ones!!

I do. I spend more time on my blog. When I don't know what to write, it lives me to extend more time before I can publish my articles.
