You not there...

Postby Sam » 11 Sep 2013, 02:33

Do you think your forum would survive if you weren't there? How would your community cope? Do you have plans in place if you are unavailable?

I don't think any forum or website would survive without proper administration of the Forum Admin. However, the staffs can manage the forum in absence of the forum administrator. But sometimes If there are disputes between staffs or moderators, then things can go wrong. So, A administrator has to be around, judge things and keep the forum or site active with his best efforts and dedication.

If the admin is away for say 1 week then the other staff would probably cope, 2 or more and you would need to get someone you trust to run the forum otherwise, there would be chaos.

If I wasn't currently at my forum I would definitely guess that the site would crumble. My co-admin would wonder where the heck I ended up at, while my mods would be wondering as well. When the site owner goes MIA it's never good. :\ However with the proper staff and if the site owner was telling them goodbye and handing over the site then it's a different story of course.

I dont think my site can survive if I was not there for sometimes. I am not sure if one Super Moderator can take up the job. I cant seem to trust anyone to become an administrator.

I always try to check in on my forum even on vacations. I do have people that step up and try to handle things while I am gone but I usually always have internet access.

I think its always best to have an admin there, but if not I'm sure a moderator or back up admin can help out and keep the forum going for a short while.

I have full trust in my management team to takeover the forum when I'm semi-leaving. Passing over my head manager position but still owning the site to prevent unwanted changes or it been sold but I won't be getting too involved with it anymore I do not think.

My forum is not really managing with me currently, this is my own fault really and maybe a forum is not that useful for my topic. Nonetheless, I like to keep at it for a little longer.

No, it won't. Especially if you are the Administrator and not a simple staff member. You need to find someone or a team of capable persons who can help you if you leave for some days.

I dont think it would, so I have hired a co-admin now, he is pretty enthusiastic about the forum and work, I am also looking for one or two more staff members, only then I will be able to relax when not on forum, I'd know that they'll take care of it then.
So unless you have a team or at least a co admin, you really cant leave your forum for long.

I seriously doubt it. I have some staff, but there are no guarantees. It's hard to say what would happen in a case like that.

I think the Admin must keep such staff members that they bond the entire forum perfectly, if they have issues also, they must try to resolve them on their own. After all the staff members should be responsible, adjustable and mature enough to handle the situations..
