Well, technically, FC does do this. I realize it is not a site that displays a variety of articles on a single topic and you have to click somewhere to read the rest of the selected article, but it is indeed nearly the same idea. The only reason I might find it objectionable is if there is only one article on the entire page that you found in a search, but have to click again just to read the rest of that single article, or worse, have to subscribe before you could access it.
Look at the index page. You scroll through the list of topics and click on just the ones of interest. Just as you select a site of interest that only displays the beginning lines of each article, you can further limit the FC displayed list by first selecting a specific category or forum and then browse just that list of topics and then guess what? ... click on the ones you want to read.
Can you imagine how frustrating it would be if you had to wade through every line of every post before you found a topic of interest? What if the page you are visiting has dozens of articles? Do you really want to read through every line of those that are of no interest before you find one you want to read?
Whether it is just title line of a topic, or the first few paragraphs of each article, the display is to let you choose the ones you want to read. The added click just opens the one you are interested in. By the way, many articles include pictures and other content beyond just text that could very well slow down load time.
What is the big deal of clicking a link to read the rest of just those of interest? AI is getting smarter all the time, but I don't think it has quite yet gotten the hang of mind reading to know which specific articles you personally want to read but I suppose even that may be possible in the future.
