Occasionally i would write articles and in the author section include a link to my blog with my biography. On most forums you can include your website or blog in your profile page or signature (depending on site rules). If you comment on other peoples blogs/websites sometimes they leave a section where you can have a link for your website. So with your comment people can click and go to your site if they choose. Using Twitter and Facebook can be good too. I got a small Twitter following now and people liking my post, etc. Facebook has the group and page option as well so you can make one or join one if it is allowed mention your site perhaps. I would stay away from autosurf type sites but that's just me.

^ This. It really depends on which kind of traffic you are looking for and which is your niche. I wouldn't recommend health niche (except if you have an amazing idea for something totally new), just too saturated these days.

Tattoos;
Anime (english website/blog);
Fanblog/website (it could be about a movie or soccer star, but it has to be a big one, like Messi).

These niches are easy too rank and not too saturated these days. You can also turn it on an affialite website and sell amazon products there, earning comissions with the niches cited above.
