Alexa Rank, does it matter

Postby Mika » 21 Mar 2021, 08:34

Alexa Rank is basically a rank given to your website based on the traffic on your website. Traffic can be easily manipulated through bots and software. In that case does Alexa rank actually matter?

A lot of people say Alexa Rank does not matter because Alexa only measures and compares the sites that have the Alexa tool. Nevertheless, I use it to measure my sites. It's handy!

I think Alexa measures traffic on any site, you can do this by going to Alexa site or through a tool bar you have installed on your browser.

I think it does matter as it's a very helpful tool to understand how the site is performing and what can be done to make things work better. Its makes the process of decision making easier by showing the numbers.

I have used that tool. Although something went wrong and it stopped working. It's probably a problem on my end. But when I did have it as a browser extension, I loved that tool! <3 There was this little bar with tick marks to show if the site was getting traffic. I got so happy when I finally saw a tick mark for one of my sites. I was like: "Yes! People are visiting me!" It also tells you the countries where your site ranks best. It seems a lot of people in India like my site. Although that could be because I have a lot of online friends in India.

I have not used alexa extension, however, I have used SEO Quake a browser tool bar that apart from showing Alexa rank also shows other metrics like google rank, bing rank, etc.

I think the Alexa rank is pretty useful. It doesn't tell you everything about a website and I guess the traffic can be manipulated, but for practical purposes it's still useful.

Alexa rank measures the popularity of a website.
This is great for benchmarking, KPI, and competitive analysis.

If you want your website to succeed you have to monitor the performances and setbacks.

"Alexa rank is a measure of website popularity. It ranks millions of websites in order of popularity, with an Alexa Rank of 1 being the most popular. Alexa Rank reveals how a website is doing relative to all other sites, which makes it a great KPI for benchmarking and competitive analysis." Quote source: https://blog.alexa.com/marketing-research/alexa-rank/

In theory, this is true. But I noticed that some of the websites that my sites were being compared to were not really comparable websites. Still! It's a neat measuring tool.

LOL. Maybe you can. I don't have a clue how to do that! It seems to me though, that doing that would backfire on you later. I don't know. :?

Well, it does not. Since Alexa rank is mainly about traffic to site, you can use traffic exchange site to drive traffic to your site and your alexa rak will improve.

It is a good tool if you want to monitor how much traffic you are getting for your posts. Then you can work hard to get the traffic you need.

Traffic exchange sites are bot-generated traffic. IN other words, the traffic is just a number

Oh OK! I was thinking of a different site I tried where people would exchange each other's links for extra traffic. I did not like them.
