You can be banned by your moderators of a Subreddit you created

Postby Netherrealmer » 14 Jun 2021, 05:43

Right now there is a controversy with the Subreddit of "the Bachelor and Bachelorette" franchise. Yes the reality shows where people compete for love.

Bachelor was originally a show where 30 women compete for the love of one rich man but lately instead of a rich man, Women compete for a popular Bachelorette contestant.

Bachelorette is a contest where men compete for the love of a woman who was a fan favorite contestant in Bachelor.

This reality show have a big fanbase and it has been around for decades. Anyway the founder and owner of the Bachelor Subreddit was kicked out of an admin position by a moderator. She created the subreddit for 9 years and one of his mods have taken over the forum without her permission. There is a power struggle and the moderator won from the support of Reddit. The admin was demoted into a regular member. Forum owners need to make sure that no matter what, they will always have control of their moderators. I want to make a subreddit before but the fact the admin role can be stolen from me by a mod is scary.

If moderator won with support of Reddit than previous owner was doing something wrong. This is often case when channels owner see how channels go in direction which they personaly don't like.

Forum owner should be owner of entire forum software and in that case, nobody can take his control. Except he gave to big permission to moderator. This is why people, owners, must understand roles in software.

Subreddit owner is not actually owner since there is higher instance in Reddit support who controls them.

Oh! That comes as a shock. It is surprising to know that a moderator can be so powerful that he can kick admin. Here it seems that the admin was not doing something right and had already lost his popularity. And that's why he lost it.

Actually the admin did nothing wrong. There is a disagreement between the admin and the moderator. The Moderator wanted to discuss sociology issues on the forum which the admin dont because its about a tv show not politics.

I wish there was a better way to settle down the disagreement. This one clearly does not sound professional and to me it looks like someone has taken undue advantage of the power that he enjoys. Hopefully, it does not become the norm for others.
