Any reliable lifetime one-time pay domain/host provider?

Postby Angstrom35 » 09 Jun 2015, 08:17

Hi Guys,

I am planning to put up a blog, mainly for IM, and would like to know if there is a domain name and host that can provide one-time pay only where I can have lifetime ownership? How much would it be?

TIA

.tk domains are free, if you renew them and there are many free web hosting providers. However there are certain limitations while using the free web hosting providers and domain names, some ad networks may not accept the free website and there may be no customer support

Yeah, I read a tutorial about that plus unlimited hosting, however as you said it has limitations. Plus, the TK domains have a bad rep, so I think it really does not fit for my purpose. Thanks for the advise anyways.

I will rent u a domain and hosting for lifetime. My lifetime is 100 years so let me know if thats long enough.

$9.99 x 100 = $999 For the domain
$50/year x 100 = $5000

So 5999 for lifetime. Happy?

I did an annuity calculation based on:
- A "holderhost" Mini package + Domain. ($40/Year)
- 100 year "lifetime" account.
- Inflation adjusted @ 2%.
- 5% interest rate.

The value of that was $1260. So that's how much I would charge for a lifetime (100yr) hosting account + domain. ;)

@Lou and Dro, what I meant by lifetime is that a package where you don't have to renew every year but you get to keep it as long as you want. I know it would be more expensive than a yearly plan, but should not be in thousands  If there is no such plan, then I have to go with what's there ;)

@niche, any good rep top level domain is good, but .com is preferable. I already saw great deals from Hostgator, GoDaddy and Green Webhost which has free domains and discounted hosting for the first year. But then after that, you get the regular pricing.

No life time and I don't suggest also, because there are many good sites are there with good features, so it is varies from year to year, better go with yearly plan

What makes you think the price should not be in the thousands? What price would you expect to pay for lifetime? How long do you expect to live?

Yes.... It's an annuity. So I am assuming that I can earn 5% interest on the upfront amount $1260 and that I receive $40/ yr + inflation. It's not pennys profit, it'll be exactly the same profit as what we get now.

An annuity is really the only way to calculate something like this.

Angstrom35 wrote:I know it would be more expensive than a yearly plan, but should not be in thousands

If you actually want it to stick around it's going to cost quite a bit. As I mentioned by what holderhost charges, the cost of a 100Yr account should be $1260. You can do the calculation yourself http://www.numericalexample.com/index.p ... icle&id=57.

I'm sure someone could come along and charge you $100 for a "lifetime" account. In reality they are hoping they can use that $100 to grow their hosting business to get other clients. But if they were ever to sell their business or not make their expected profit, you'd be kicked out.

In blogging as far as i know, the only thing that is one time payment is the domain name. While the hosting requires you to pay monthly subscriptions. ;)

@Lou & @Sam, maybe I should not use the term "lifetime" but "one-time" payment so we don't get confused with semantics. But anyways, since there is none, I'll go with the yearly and get the "one-time" payment domain as @Franky said.

Thanks for the input guys :)

I wouldn't pay for a lifetime hosting, even if it was for less than a year, only month per month, so if something happens, I'll pack my things and leave.

Are you asking for a free or piad domain and hosting ? If you are asking for free I don't think you will find a reliable one but there are some decent ones.

You have to pay them for per year basis if you not like to pay then use .tk.
