I have a Twitter account for myself and my website. I have less than 500 followers. I get some retweets, likes, and comments. It has not helped me greatly but I have benefitted.

I have not heard of any direct monetary benefits there. It is a widely used platform and good for expanding your network and promoting your links there. A great way to promote your sites. products, blogs etc.

I am not much active on any social media site and especially on Twitter. I often keep reminding myself that I need to make my presence felt on social media and try to network more. This would help me with the promotion of my articles and blogs. But so far, I have not tried or made any effort to do so. People value the number of followers on Twitter and it does good for them. Social media presence and networking is important in so many views.

I agree with some previous answers, the benefit I get from Twitter is mainly indirect - you can garner some following by posting links from your blog, and it can be helpful in getting more engagement.

I don't go to Twitter that much. But I do know that because of its large user base, it's a good platform for businesses to reach wider audience. One thing I also heard is, there's lot of spam accounts on twitter, so be wary of not clicking on any suspicious links from accounts you don't know.

Twitter is the least social media I'm active on. Many users have claimed its immense benefits but it just doesn't work for me. There are many success stories on the app so I don't think it is a bad idea.

I don't really know the reason why Twitter is termed microblogging . Could you monetize your twitter account?
