Many times we see people not interested in Upgrading to the latest software or version as it costs money but they need to understand that they won't get security and other updates if they are not upgraded to the latest version and the reason why I always upgrade first to stay safe.

Sometimes most software reduce your hardwork and that is why people make use of the ugprade. like upgrading to Windows 10 while you have windows 7 which is now not supported by antivirus anymore. So yeah upgrades happen like this. some carrot given to horse type approach.

Sometimes it is absolutely not necessary to upgrade if you have to spend a lot of money. For instance if you are using photoshop CS6, there is no need to spend a lot of money on Photoshop 2022

If your pc os system and programmes are original licensed , yes you definitely need to upgrade all the latest version. Hiwever if you are using pirate copies, better dont upgrade or else you will get caught by the authority
