Postby JASPREET » 23 May 2022, 08:06

Earlier on I have never ever planned to buy Cloud space to store my important data but these days I keep getting the notification from my phone that My cloud storage space is exhausted so I need to buy but I am not going for it.

I have purchased the VPS server, hopefully that counts? Though I gave up on it as my project was not success but the price at that time was good and buying cloud server and even hosting files on it is an experience.

Whenever I get that notification , I check out what photos I already have and then I delete a few and it is good. I don't think I would ever need the extra space

I also think I don't need to buy it and they are just kinda spamming me to buy even if I don't need it and it's actually irritating but I am not gonna spend a penny on it

So far, I have not found the necessity for it, as there are many different ways to store online.

It's not cheap so don't think it's a good idea to buy besides you can look online to find different free ways to get Cloud space.

I use the free version of DropBox, it works great for me and I haven't needed to upgrade to the paid version yet.

I do the same, I look through what I have saved there, delete the stuff I know I will never need and move some files and / or folders that are not very important or that can be easily replaced (e.g. downloaded again) to a part of my hard drive outside of DropBox.

I delete the unnecessary ones too but seems like they are just sending me the notification so that I will buy more space because I have deleted multiple files but still get the sync error

There is also Nextcloud which can be stored on the cpanel based host. I think it makes a good sense to use that as well. I make use of it often.

I've never purchased cloud space. I'm not sure that I ever would pay for it either since I have some places that offer it for free for me.

For years I had gotten free cloud space through Asus when I bought my new laptop. I filled it up and last year started getting emails that they were going to empty my stuff and invited me to pay for a discount. I never did anything and I still get emails that my files are stored there and they want to empty them...but nothing has gotten deleted yet.

The only thing I have enough data from is pictures and I store unlimited photos on my Amazon Prime as part of that subscription. It was also super easy to have them display on my Echo Show as a slide show that I would not want to lose.

Most of the camera based pictures can be easily increasing the space on the cloud. But the thing is we can always delete the images and reduce the space on cloud.

Some companies operate a "Fremium" model, where the basic service is free and the more capable service has a charge. Dropbox is just one example of that. One of the benefits of cloud storage is that it is much better managed and protected. Still, it's essential to take proper precautions with your own device. Always turn on two-factor authentication, also make use of any additional security your cloud storage offers.

This is the best option and also the unneccesary screenshot which take a lot of space. I always delete photos which are not necessary.
