I was used to being on forums but not used to being offered Amazon GCs, PayPal cash or any other type of monetary compensation for interactions with others. The setting was that of people being there because they were genuinely interested in the specific type of activities. Either someone told them about all that was happening there or they stumbled upon an interesting discussion and decided to sign up and participate. It was more of everyone sharing ideas and experiences and so each benefits one way or another. If there were ever any complaints it was never that the "pay" was too small because there wasn't any.
Now I see forums offering money for posts and there could be one or any number of reasons for this. Is it a way to attract and keep members loyal? Is this just a token of appreciation to say thanks for being here when you could be elsewhere? Is it with the hope that members make contributions that will in turn earn the forum some (or even enough) money to continue its existence? When people are so quick to register on platforms of interest to them with no expectations of being paid for such, why do PTP forums pay? What's your insight on this?
