In many my projects in start I set Google Analytics tracking code. Sometimes it was hoisted instead of Google Analytics. What do I do next? Checking my website stats every few hours and sometimes often. Later I noticed how I spend more time checking different statistic service, following every visitors than I make content. Probably some projects fall because of it.

Now I am using different approaches.
I am making content and backlinks. I didn't set Google Analytics tracking code so I don't spend time on checking every visitor.
Currently I only check Ahref backlink service so I can see does it count my backlinks.

I will add code probably after first 100 articles and maybe after 50 backlinks.

Did you have this problems in first projects? How often you check your website statistic?

I don't think it is necessary to check stats very often. Once per week or even once per month could be enough, unless there is something unusual happening in relation to your site and you want to keep track of that.

This is optimal, but I didn't it do it. I was several time per day on Analytics. Rookie mistake.

I check rarely. I wanted to see if I could regularly check the performance but hubpages is down and my blogs don't have much traffic anymore.
