SSL certificate

Postby mrki444 » 24 Sep 2022, 07:07

SSL certificate
The SSL certificate enables secure communication between the user and the website. The general rule is: Do not register/log in to a site that does not have an SSL certificate. You can surf, but don't leave any personal information on it.
The lock in the address bar of the web browser tells us whether the website has an SSL certificate or not. Also, the website address should contain https.
While browsing the prices of SSL certificates, I came across different types of SSL certificates which honestly surprised me at first. I knew there were discounts for a larger number of pages, but I didn't know there were differences even if you buy for just one page, for example a personal blog.
The difference may be in encryption, the amount of data sent between the user and the website, whether it is also applied to subdomains.

Where did you buy your certificate? In the domain registry or from another service?

I have lets encrypto with Hawkhost, they enabled it in domain section and we get it with it automatically. I think most of the cpanel basd hosts have it.

Base plan for single domain sounds good to me. I usually get SSL for free so as long as you get enough protected I feel this a good plan.

I use an SSL certificate and CDN offered by Cloudflare. Trust me Cloudflare has got so many interesting features. Need to explore more.

problem is cloudflare is often not required and also you can get the SSL from host instead that is more suitable.

Just get it from your host. Certain hosts do offer it FOC. Google "free SSL".

I think many hosts have the service and they render it automatically for free to their clients

I really love Cloudflare that's why I use. Yes, hosting service providers do provide SSL certificates.

Cloudflare takes a lot of your traffic out and also it can reduce the traffic due to the checks and captchas. but it can be limited safe.

Half of sites includes free SSL on hosting plan means half others you need to pay extra fee for SSL setups by personal experience.

Have you ever tried cloudflare? Cloudflare also comes with a free CDN. I am using it on my sites.

This is a good explanation. I think the rates depend upon 128 vs 256 Bit encryption and related Technical details.
I have never purchased myself though.

I added my SSL certificate but I still have warning in browser bar how connection is not secure.
Problem is in certificate or my site. Or certificated is not trusted by all web browsers or I must check all my codes and every http change into https.

Were you able to solve this issue? One of the easiest ways to solve this kind of issue, if you are a Namecheap customer, is by contacting the support through live chat.
