Removing Personal Information from Web

Postby skysnap » 27 Sep 2022, 07:45

If your personal information is out on google and want to remove it from the search results, I recently learned about one page where we can make the complaint and get it out. I usually find this type handy if any client wants to get info out of pages.

You can check it out here: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/9673730

Especially those information that can ruin your chances on a job application. I have a friend who use those steps to delete his myspace account that he cant delete as he forgot the password. He want it deleted
because it has posts that ruined his reputation at a job application.

I wish something like this was available 20 years ago.

I was active on another site for several years in the 1990s and had contributed thousands of posts. Once I was no longer active there, I wanted to get off the contact list to stop other members from pestering me for questions. There was nothing embarrassing involved, I just wanted to be delisted.

They say once posted on the Internet, it will live on forever. It all finally faded after several years and the site itself finally vanished. Nothing can be found that even mentions it, even in the wayback machine. This service would have made it all dissolve a lot faster. Fortunately, some things are not forever.

It is impossible to remove your digital footprints. Your information, if removed, might be unaccessible to a normal person, but there are companies and individuals who can easily find your information.

This personal information removal process is not a straightforward process as I though at first. From the web page, I have learned that, after I submit my request for removal, Google will review this request and consider factors such as public interest.
Some of your information may thus not be removed.

I think if the process of removing one's information from the Google would be easier many people would have done that.

I don't think it's practically possible to remove all your personal information from Google

My point exactly. The conditions and process Google has laid out for this removal is evidently designed to discourage people from asking for their personal information to be removed.
I think Google is simply offering lip service to this matter: the giant is not interested in helping people to achieve this end.

That is true and it is also the reason why we should be very careful about the information and photos about ourselves that we show on the web, once on the web it will be there forever.

We all must take good care of this as don't upload any disputed pic even in your personal files. Necessory documents are needed to be uploaded but don't write any personal diary type things online.
