A lot of online newspapers puts a registration wall or a paywall on their websites. You just want to read an article but they are forcing you to register or pay subscription. Meanwhile fake news are easily available on facebook and tiktok for free. Most people who fall for fake news are poor. How do you think they will feel about being charged with a Paywall just to read an article they googled. Real news should be free and must not have a registration wall and paywall.

Fake news have a better seo because they are easier to find and they are free. They can still make money with ads, they do not need to hold an article for ransom and force people to pay or register to read it.

People like controversy and sensationalization. That's the only reason why fake news spreads faster. The creators of this fake news are trying to fish in the muddy water.

It used to be that "Subscription" guaranteed that the reporters were giving you real news (rather than just 'the headlines that make people pay to learn the full story)---because "Subscribe" comes from words that mean Sign Beneath (because they'd sign a Contract saying that they'd Pay---no matter WHAT the news said).

Well CNN is fakes news and free on youtube but it still failed.. same with the Oscars it was free online
but no one watched. I don't think it's about being poor.. people are just tired of being lied to
