Open Source CMS for Blogs

Postby Mika » 26 Feb 2023, 13:35

Wordpress is a popular option for blogging, but it is not the only CMS for blogging, some of the popular options are:
Ghost
Jekyll
Gatsby, etc.
Have you tried CMS other than Wordpress for blogging?

I prefer to write my blog from scratch in a static format and update it online in real time, so it is fast and reliable without the burden of a database.

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

For those who do not have any knowledge of programming languages that would not be possible, right?

I have not used any other than WordPress.. I found WordPress quite good and user friendly. Never thought of trying anything else.

Yes it would be. There are many WYSIWG (What you see is what you get) editors like Dreamweaver where you edit HTML almost like in Word. You just need to know structure and how to add new pages in menu.

This is half WYSIWG editor and half code editor. Just expand first part and you get full WYSIWG editor.

In order to do that you still need some level of skill with codes. CMS is different, you built on a prebuilt template.

It's easier than you think. As long as you use the same layout all you need to do is use a free text editor (notepad++ is what I use) and change the links to yours and edit the text if you like, then save it and post it to your web host with a free program like FileZilla. There are free tutorials on Youube.

Wordpress is the go to but you can also use Joomla and make a cool blog site out of it.

Ys, we can use Joomla to create blogs but the CMS is more suited for e-commerce rather than a blog.
