I am into IT and do know some coding. However, my work is a mix of Analysis,Design, Coding as well as troubleshooting as well as many other miscellaneous stuff.
However, I can understand a lot of different codes in different programming languages and that helps.

Just like any other niche, programming/coding is also a competitive niche. It is really difficult to get hired unless you have a lot of experience and a lot of portfoilios to impress ther potential cleints.

It costs nothing to learn coding if you have the zeal, fortitude, perseverance, and a bit of an inborn logical bent of mind. There are innumerable resources available online that you can start with, but what you need is a plan and consistency in your learning routine.

Your comment got me thinking. I have encountered some pundits who have claimed that the advent of AI technologies threatens the work of professionals, including coders. I am not convinced by this gloomy assessment.
What's your take on this?
