PayPal versus Stripe

Postby Treborika » 22 May 2023, 06:56

According to you which one do you prefer using bearing in mind that stripe is a little cheaper in terms of the transaction fees?

I heard about Stripe but I still prefer Paypal as it is worldwide accepted and I use it to shop, almost all stores accept Paypal while Stripe isn't not even mentioned.

Stripe is not available in my location. Therefore, I have never used it and do not know about the fees.

I have yet to reach payout on vocal.media which only deals with Stripe.

I had difficulty setting up a Stripe account.

I was told that my account set-up was successful though.

So, I am still a little unsure.

Re: PayPal versus Stripe

I use both. While Paypal is generally easier to get payments done quickly, I've had more chargebacks there, than Stripe. I guess one of the good sides of setting up stripe, is how they allow you to separate the type of online stores you want to run. If you care about what is sold as packages and if people can come back and select to buy something, it is easy to separate the store instances to see what type of income is doing the best.

@Mika, I guess the main problem that most people have with Stripe, is that even though technically they label it as able to accept payments from nearly every country, some country payment processors are off by default. Example being, I had to apply to accept the 4 local processors just to Europe, to be able to cover payments from all European Countries. I believe there was even one I had to activate for India specifically.

Note: Do not send me FC, if I haven't agreed to do something yet. If you send me FC and I hadn't agreed to do something, consider it as a donation, as I will not pay it back to you. Donations sent without an agreement every single time, are considered as donations. It will not be refundable, if I do not agree to it in each instance.

Thanks!

I have not used any payment gateway other than PayPal. I never required it. I have been with PayPal for almost two decades and little more. I am happy with their service. And the sites that I work on pay through PayPal. So, I never tried anything else.

I too prefers the PayPal Online processor because it's use is initiated worldwide while the stripe is firstly testing the waters.

I have not seen many employers using Stripe payment, even when they offer Stripe, they also have other payment processors, Paypal for example. One of the drawbacks of paypal is charge backs, but this feature also give syou an advantage when you are a buyer.

I thought that stripe is supported in African countries. It should be. Just that it is not popular.

I don't know much about Stripe so I would say I prefer PayPal for now. I guess PayPal is far more popular and may be more reliable

PayPal ads a few more enemys every day. I may need to give Stripe a try, but so far Bitcoin on CoinBase has worked for me.

It's easy to get payment with Bitcoin on BMF and Forum Coin both and those are the only two I use.

I don't think BMF has bitcoin. I think BCH is the only cryptocurrency I see on their shops sections.
