Do forums help promote and build a community for our forum and blog? Have you tried one? What is your experience in this regard?

I have a blog (that is sleeping right now), and a forum with the same theme may help to drive traffic to your blog, and also bring advertisers but maybe it can be done as a way of exchanging favors with the other forum members.

I have a feeling of starting one. I would then to start the with free forum software. I would choose a catchy niche for that matter and try out if can work for me.

I am not sure about blogs but if you own a forum and if you use other forums, you can get activities on your forum. I have used forums to build activities in the past.

Can't we do it without exchanging favors with other forum members because the response from fellow forum members always remains poor.
