I have a website where I allow users to download files. I am thinking to create a website where users can upload their own files. What do you think are the best practices for implementing secure file uploads and downloads on a website?

I am concerned with website security. What if users upload malware and virus? How do I stop them?

When it comes to thunk like this, i have little to no ideas though, but the idea of having users upload files is a really good idea.
