Have You Ever Co-owned a Website

Postby Mika » 17 Jul 2023, 09:58

I have seen many websites that are owned by more than one individual. I do not know what kind of arrangements these people have but they co-own websites. Have you ever co-owned a website, what was your experience like? It is help financially, did it help in website management?

Co owning a site is something I want to try out. I have a guy that is innovative and I want us to collaborate on a blog and share proceeds.

I owned a website 7 years ago, but I no longer care about it, so it becomes dormant. That's one reason why my Google Adsense stayed dormant and Google Required me to reapply but I must also create a new website. WIX created me a new website for free. :D

There are a lot of platforms that will allow you to create websites for free but sadly most of these platforms do not allow monetization, meaning, you cannot make money. If your adsense approved website remains offline for too long, you will have to reapply for adsense

With a proper agreements in place, people can work together on one site. Two heads are better than one.

I guess you could say I co-own a website with a Used Car Dealer. I designed the site and integrated it with his inventory and handle any changes or updates that need to be made and he sends me $105 a quarter. It's on a reseller account for hosting I own and that is enough to cover all costs and gives me free hosting for all my own websites. So far this arrangement has lasted for over 20 years and works fine for both of us.

So, you have been a co-owner of this website for 20 years? That's amazing. I have often thought about partnering with people to create an online store, however, I have not found the right candidate.

Do you think co owning a blog is viable at all? I have had that idea for some time now.

A general discussion forum I had previously called Discussion Hub. I started it off as a solo project but then I took on someone a little bit into the start as a 50/50 partner. They invested time and money into it which was great. We got along quite well so never really had any issues with decision making

This can only happen when you two share the same values and ideals. It is difficult to practice.

That is a good business proposition and I think you are the creative hub while he is the bigger financier.

No, all the websites I have I own them individually. This thing of co-owning has issues especially when in need. I remember, one of the them popular question and answer website "died" because the co-owners failed to agree to certain things.

I own a blog and I'm actually trying to develop the blog so that I can get Google adsense.

--- 13 Aug 2023, 07:40 ---

I have never co-owned a website and I see no reason why I would engage in such.

I have not co- owned any website with anyone. Though I do not have the expertise to manage a website. I usually employ the services of the professional in the business..
