My site have members as young as 12 so I do not want them to see nude women because It could offend their parents and may lose me advertisement.




I put their posts it a hidden spot so I can repurpose them as replies for struggling threads and articles that needs replies.

They made 300 spams today and all of them have provocative pictures of women, which my alienate the young members. Spammers from Central African Republic use to flood me but that country don't have active users from the forum so I just mass banned them but I cannot mass ban India since I have real Indian members.

Dicey situation. They would keep on spamming the site. You have to take the pains and ban all the individual accounts. Then, you block new registrations from India for now.

That's a nice idea. They thought they are harming you and your site not knowing that you would turn it around for the benefit of the site.

As admin I have the power to edit their threads and comments, change their username and password or merge their accounts with inactive accounts.India is also considered a top tier country when it comes to traffic now. I blocked CAR or Central African Republic since people from that country don't really use internet for entertainment reasons. They just use it to spam.

So an admin of a site has the power to change the password of a user? That's cool. India is a tier 1 country in traffic and you can't afford to lose them. You took the right approach.

When I was running a forum, I used to get similar posts, but these posters were from Russia. In the beginning I used to delete the posts, but later I started repurposing them. It gave an impression that I have a lot of active members. LOL

I do not really have any idea about how to run a site and all that though, but i believe there should be a way for you to find the spammers and block them completely from having access to the site. Is that not possible?

Very good strategy to repurpose such posts. Some would just come to someone's forum to post pornograohic contents.

Do they have links in their posts? You can use plugin which converts all links into something else like word or your link.

Yeah I did that to them to make their posts longer because they copy paste a super long script.

You have done well to be very resilient and not allow them spammers take over your site. Could be lots of work though.

Sorry for the experience, I have seen these sort of ads or posts on many websites and yes they spam day in and day out

I don't own a forum anymore but I think repurposing the posts is a great idea, they not only creates activities but also even encourage existing users to become more active. YOu can build a thriving community by repurposing spam posts
