I have been trying to create a new forum section in my forum.

when I go to Home > Forum Management > Add new forum and try to create new forum section

It says as follows;

The following errors were encountered:

You must select a parent forum.

Why need to select a parent forum when I am trying to create a new forum section? and when I select a parent forum, it goes under it's category as sub forum.

If anyone could fix this, I would be grateful and give some FC in return.

If you want to create a new forum section, select Category in the Forum Type options.

When creating a new forum, be sure to select 'Category' instead of 'Forum'. Once you select 'Category', you do not need to choose a parent forum. Here is a screenshot to help you:
