Working as a web designer

Postby Coinlv » 15 Jul 2015, 08:04

Have you ever worked for a company as a web designer? What is like in this role, are the hours flexible and the salary high or is this a bad career choice?

yes, i currently employed in a private company, my boss always choose me to design the site, but for me i dont like designing its an headache for me getting some concept, color combination. i like creating code not designing. actually designing is not a bad career choice sometimes person has talent in designing but he dont like to design. here in the Philippines maybe if youre web designer in BIG COMPANIES you have high salary.

The company i'm working for doesn't have web designers. The big boss uses his web developers to have the role of a web designer. I think your role will be doing the design and responsiveness of a template for development use. I also think it's not a bad choice as i am seeing on some freelance site looking for web designers and is willing to pay a large amount.

No,I haven't worked as a web designer in a company but im looking forward to it.Web development and design is what I focus on.I think designers can do their job if they have the required equipment ( amazing pc with great softwares in it ) .

No, I've never worked as a web designer, but hopefully, I will. I really like that kind of a job and I'm doing pretty well in designing.

When I was with a bank, we hired a tutor to teach us Dreamweaver for the plan of putting up our bank's website. I was one of the trainee and was the fortunate one selected to draw up the design of the bank's webpage. It was not easy because the colors have been giving me problems - I am slightly color blind. But it's a nice job.

My brother works as an art director but sometimes he also becomes a web designer. I do think that some companies are not hiring web designers exclusively because some artists already know how to make their own websites especially if your course is visual communication.

My work is focused more on back-en and sometimes front-end, salary is just minimum for inexperienced people like me. I heard freelance pays a lot than what you could expect. :)

I know of some people who work as a web designer and they enjoy doing it, especially if they are into arts or anything creative. It is an added bonus to the job if the company allows you creative freedom to do whatever on layout and formatting. If this is not something that you are working on but interests you, you can try to be one of the freelance web developers out there.

As a programmcer, you can also act as the web designer at the same time. I'm working as a dev and of course, it's not only the codes and functions that are important but the Graphical interface as well so I study how to create good looking web design to maximize my role as a programmer.

I agree with you on that.If we want to have complete job then its better for us to learn both web development and web design because they always go together.
