Generally, PHP is the best. It is very, very versatile, and easy to learn and program, too. It can run on virtually any system and is fast and secure.

There are other languages popping-up, claiming to be 'modern', but ultimately, they are not as versatile. They require more specific systems, are harder to integrate, harder to learn and more costly at times.

You can try Python too. It all depends on a developers point of view. Some prefer other PLs over the other for specific reasons.

You can use PHP together with html for a dynamic website, it is best for web development. For others, you can also use ASP and JSP.

I agree, nowadays browser's support most of the popular programming language for website today, so more is certainly better. JavaScript is also good in my opinion, just the vulnerability in it is pretty scary.

Try HTML or CSS.The two are easy to learn and you can get online tutorials easily for free. You can also try Joomla as it is also another platform for making a website.
