Anyone Had Luck Monetising Tumblr?

Postby nik » 12 Aug 2015, 17:33

So there's a Tumblr blog that I've had for a few years now, which mainly reblogs funny and interesting posts. In this time, I've managed to amass 30K followers and I think it's time to try making a bit of money from it. Does anyone have any experience monetising a blog?

I've tried using Amazon affiliate links, with not much luck. About a thousand clicks before I gave up, with not a single sale. Have I been impatient? What are some better ways to make money with Tumblr, that won't get me banned?

I am on Tumblr because honestly I am there because I love the quality of pictures there. I also follow some blogs that post about my favorite band. However, about monetizing it, this is new to me, although I see some ads on the timeline when I am browsing it.

I think one way one motizing tumblr account is the gain mass number of followers annd have them follow your other site with links that was using shortener url like adly or short.est. If you did'nt find success in affiliate programs, maybe this one will help.

I have tried using infolinks on my tumblr account but I stop blogging so I didn't get anywhere from it. I have also used nuffnang and I earned a few peso from it. I think the best way to earn from followers is to interact with them and do some mass following. You should also tell them to follow you back. Some will do and some will not.

I think it is how you monetize as follows, you indicate some link the images or texts, and give a test the link, you have sites that pay 1-5 dollars per thousand unique visualizations

Had any luck? Here's my story.

I had Infolinks at one time on my Tumblr blogs. I was earning income from them. I also had Google Ad Sense. But then my blogs got deleted. Years of work down the drain in an instant. Then Tumblr changed hands from the original owner to another owner and then another owner. I created a brand new Tumblr account with the new owners and started all over again. Now I can't approval for Infolinks because my blogs don't qualify and Tumblr does not allow Google Ad Sense ads on the subdomain blogs (blogs with {blogname}.tumblr.com). But if you use your own domain name the ads are allowed.

At any rate Tumblr does allow you to share affiliate links. My Tumblr blog is monetized with affiliate links. Your Tumblr account can be connected to your Twitter. So when you post on Tumblr it automatically posts on Twitter, if you connected the accounts. You can also post your Tumblr links via Pinterest, Facebook, and other social media accounts. So for that reason I use Tumblr. I can get a lot of mileage out of it. I am sure I will have luck monetizing my Tumblr blogs as my followers increase.

I read about this topic few years ago. People start writing Tumblr don't allow any type of direct monetization of any ad network. You can advertise products, sites but only with direct links. Tumblr is good for getting traffic but monetizing must be somewhere else.

I have never tried monetizing my Tumblr blog. I cant even remember if Tumblr allows to monetize their sites since it is another complicated kind of provider. I just use to share my main sites links.

So you used infolinks on tumbler. did not realize that you could also use network ads on tumblr. I though you can only use affiliate links.

Sign up on Tumblr when I first started out but truthfully didn't do much with it, maybe it was just part of me experimenting because I later dump it.

In have noticed that many people do the same thing when they start blogging on free blogging platform. They are never consistent.

I am thinking to use Tumblr for bcklinking and traffic. I do not have any wish to make money from tumblr, my primary intention is to use tumblr to drive people to my sites.

These comments are dated 2018. It's 2021 and Tumblr is now owned by the same people who own WordPress. The new Tumblr management is not very supportive of affiiliate marketers if you are using a FREE Tumblr Blog. However if you pay for a domain and buy a template you can do whatever you want!

It lost its profitability the moment it banned porn, Even if you dont use porn, banning of porn made sites lose a huge chunk of its community.
