I would give it a few months. After that I would look at why it isn't attracting members and try to do something to get members in then give it another try.

I think 6 months should be given to a forum and try your best to make it grow, I will post some contests and hire some peoples from SEO Clerks or fiverr to make my forum grow, if I failed to get the target I can then sell that forum.

I think at least a year, but I would be just to it, if I have not done much to promote or bring the activity to it, I wont close it, I'lll only close it if I lose interest to it not because of its low stats.

Varies depending on why you set up that forum. Yes, different people have different reasons and targets. If you fail to get your target, a year is enough since you avoid paying for domain rtenewal.

I would not even try to run a forum as I do not have the necessary experience and capacity to do so.

Growing a forum community is one of the most difficult things now as all niches now have functional forums. I would try and run my forum for a year and if it is not showing signs of growth, I would give it all up.
