.Co domains?

Postby shamzblueworld » 12 Dec 2013, 04:46

Hello everyone! What do you guys think of .Co domains? Are those worth buying? Are those same as a TLD .Com or .Net? Does it make any difference in SEO or website appeal and worth?

.Co is somehow new domain tld. I don't think it matters in SEO as I have seen other tld domains having good SERP or rankings.

You should always read the description of the TLD, and purchase it, if it fits your website. The future isn't going to have "the best TLD", anymore. It's going to be more important to pick the TLD that matches your website's needs.

http://www.go.co/about/

The best place to learn about a TLD is the company that invested in its formation. :P So, to answer your question, it really just depends on the administrator.

thats really a good TDL and can get short names in this TDL as its a new one and It wont affect the SEO as its a ICAN approved TDL.

Well, in that case, I haven't had any experiences with .co domains. My constant fear is that users will forget that it's just ".co", and might end up typing ".com". The differences are minimal, and it's quite easy to make that mistake.

Has anyone ever used a .co url before?

No, and I don't intend to do so. I also agree with your point that users will end up typing .com, as that is the extension people are most likely to remember. I don't see why they had to create an extension so alike to .com.

That's a good question. :P Didn't anyone tell the investors that the TLD could be confusing?

@shamzblueworld,
What's so funny? Maybe if you tell us, we can laugh too. :)

Well, .co isn't terribly popular, but it's still more heard of than most new TLDs. With that said, I hate the new tlds. :(

Always check for .com domain first , if it is not available you can go with whatever domain you want.

It's worth to register some of those for companies like YOURSTORE.CO or SALESWEBSITE.CO. Might as well aim for big companies (or start ups) that already have established websites, register the .co and resell them later.
