Are Blog Directories still a thing?

Postby thisnthat » 29 Sep 2015, 20:56

Is it worth your time to add your blog to blog directories these days? What about for Blogjob blogs, would it do anything?

If so, what are some good directories? Are there any certain ones that would be best?

Blogjob directories, I can't understand this.Is this something to do with the list of blogs that are available online or you are putting a directory on your own blog?

I used to submit my blog in a directory but it didn't really helped me gain any traffic. I don't think it's necessary to have one because Google is indexing blogs even if it's not a paid website. I think it's weird to have directories of websites in just one website.

Blogjob blogs can earn through visits so its worth for the site owner and they pay users. Hard work always worth, if you invest more time to your blog with lots of efforts you may get a good return for that.

No sorry. I just meant putting my Blogjob blogs into regular blog directories, but I guess nobody uses those directory sites any more. Sorry for the confusion.

Nah, just dont bother with any directory. In fact, submiting your blog or site to a directory can actually do you harm. I mean you can loose trafic because of it. Directories were a thing a decade ago now social media is what directories used to be.

How can it harm you? I wasn't aware of that. I still see some sites recommending that you submit your blogs. They have long lists of directories. I guess they are just giving outdated information?

Okay, I will. Thanks for the info. I certainly don't want to do anything that's going to harm my traffic, when I'm trying to improve it.

I submitted my blog to Alltop and I receive a few visits thru the site. So I think it can still work. Maybe not as much as it used to, though.

Google didnt penalize you for it ?
Did your ranking change in any way from that time ?
Even a slight change can mean something.

Yeah, they are still a thing for a blog with large amount of content as it will help user's to locate the same thing in case they need to find it in the future. Otherwise, I think the "Search" function is adequate because content are easier to be found using keywords than clicking a few directories just to get to the same location.
