Automatic video play in Facebook

Postby lightning18 » 06 Oct 2015, 10:14

How do facebook did this? Have you noticed that when you are scrolling down on your facebook account, the video of other people automatically plays even without you playing it. What does it mean for people who are earning from views from other people? Can you stop these videos from playing automatically because I don't want to contribute in someone's earning if I don't like the video that I'm watching.

I don't like the automatic play videos either. It's not that I mind helping someone earn. It's because I want to choose what I want to watch. I also don't like how loud they are sometimes, as it might disturb someone else here, especially if I'm not expecting it and can't adjust the volume quickly. I'm often up later than everyone else here.

I've googled before but I never found a way to avoid it. It gets too annoying to have stuff like that, and that gets to be one more reason for me to dislike to go to facebook. More and more I go there just for a minute...

Yes, I've noticed it and it's really irritating. Facebook and Google both are getting on my nerves with their unfair tricks. I hate it when the videos start playing without my permission. These two sites are turning out to be villains, I guess. There needs to be some competition to these two sites so that they don't lose their way.

I was surprised to see this week ago. Great innovation from the maker of the site. I believe they have integrated an app to play the video automatically. I saw an option to disable this though.

The automatic videos have been happening for a while now. There's a way to disable it in your settings. You can google it to find out how.

Unless I'm blind, I don't think there is a way to stop videos from playing automatically. I hate the autoplay feature as most of the others in this topic have said. I can see it being extremely annoying for people with slower computers; something like that might even make it nearly impossible to use Facebook.

I googled it for you. You can follow these instructions to stop auto-play:
To stop videos from playing automatically on your computer: From the top right of Facebook, click and select Settings. Click Videos in the left menu. Click the dropdown menu next to Auto-play Videos and select Off.

Credits to Facebook

It wouldn't be possible for Facebook to not allow disabling of autoplay videos. It would use up too much data and people will complain and stop using the app.

I think it is a cool way to watch videos without the sounds on. I think the video stops as soon as browse away from the video, right? So far I like this upgrade :)

Yes, especially if you have Internet on your phone and you have a limited Mb you will consume a lot of them, especially in 3G and 4G Internet.

I also observed that but I don't have any idea whether video owners will get credits or not, what I normally do is just to continue scrolling without watching videos I don't find interesting and useful.

It is possible to configure in your facebook account so that such videos are running not alone. If I'm not mistaken, you just go in privacy and uncheck the option.

Disabling autoplay in the settings is the first thing I did when I saw what they did, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to save their nerves. It's annoying - if I want to see something, I will play it myself.

Yes, the video is automatically playing, but the volume doesn't, otherwise it'd be one noisy mess as you scrolled. I do like this automatic play feature though. you have to press play to get the volume to play.
