video hhosting

Postby Abakane » 14 Oct 2015, 22:52

If you want videos on your site do you use only youtube or do you use some other ones ?
Example: if you want to do a tutorial or explain where are all the secret levels on some game and you dont want to use youtube what do?
I know nitendo has been wery bad when it comes to this sort of thing. They have been sending take down notices evrywhere they could. It pised off a lot of people.

All video hosts - effectively- have to comply with DMCA. While DMCA is a US law, most companies are not willing to take the risk of non-compliance. The Kim Dotcom/ Megaupload saga forced most companies to simply comply.

I believe you can use Nintendo's content if you're doing so in the form of satire or review. Those constitute "fair use". Unfortunately, I doubt tutorials would be covered. The best thing to do would be to work with the companies in question so that your content is not taken down AND host it on your own VPS or Dedi so you at least get the chance to respond to the DMCA.

I have several videos that I don't want hosted on YouTube for various reasons, so I host them on an Amazon S3 account which is unbelievably inexpensive, but I use a $300 software to make it secure and take care of setting them up from a custom control panel.

I sometimes used the videos I found in You Tube for my sites but the links are directed to the owners of the videos. I also have my own you tube channel and have some videos from my travels. I used them too for my own blogs.

Nope. If you use their content Nintendo wants a cut. It doesnt mater if it is 'fair use' they want a peace of the revenue cake. A big chunk :(
And if you dont want to do that then you will have to delete those videos just like Angry Joe has done. He bought Wii U just for the purpose of making a review and then he had to remove those videos.
I started to hate nitendo.

Nintendo has been around for decades and is best known for the Mario Bros. series of interactive games, but they have grown and spread globally in today's marketplace.

The reason you see so many YouTube videos, is because they are the recognized volume leader and have zero barrier to entry for anyone who wants to get involved.
