Hi Friends,

I have seen most of the forums asking for donations, just like we are offering some fruits,food or coins for the god and asking wealth, health etc etc. When forum is offering coins for our articles and then it is also asking for donations. But Forums are not demanding the donations, if some body pays they are accepting, I do not know the concept of this.

Many forums ask for donations from members and visitors, as a way of earning some money that they use towards the cost of running a forum. It is a useful method as members who have benefited from the forum, are often happy to make a donation in return for the help and advice they have received on the community.

Personally I prefer to rely on advertising and selling things such as premium membership, to help generate some income, towards the cost of running the site. I have never asked for donations, or asked for money without offering something in return.

Donations help improve forums so they can have bigger storage space for higher res profile pictures and so on.

They are correct. Forum creators need funds so they can up their forums longer and to enhance it. They can't make it alone unless they are very rich.

There is no shame on it. Big websites like wikipedia do it.

Of course one should always try to not depend on it. But, if it comes to it, asking for help is the right thing to do

I can imagine some donations here and there would really help a forum out, especially if one was struggling. This sort of reminds me some video channels I came across on Twitch that had paid subscription feeds to watch a person play games. I have seen regular blogs have donate buttons even which is pretty nice to add. For the forums I like a lot I would love to donate but being tough on money now I can't.

Yes that's true. Funds are needed. It's not mandatory it is upon on you if you want to donate or not. That's why they use the word "Donation" they are not obliging you to send them money.

It depends on the admins if they need help in maintaining the forums
