How I Fixed My Blog Infected by Malware

Postby nakitakona » 09 Dec 2015, 02:51

In one of my posts here is about finding help for my blog was affected by malware. It took me several days and even weeks finding solution for that.

Some of you here had suggested on how should I manual solve it like Sam's and darkthorn's link referrals. I tried them and had given me a vital info on how to track the infectious malware.

Through my consistent doing trial and error attempts on the application of what I read, fortunately it was remedied and my blog is now categorized as "not dangerous" by Google. It's good my blog ads are not compromised.

Congratulations, firstly. It must have been a blow when you found out that your blog was being tagged as dangerous by Google. Was it a long process to fix the issue? It is good to state these things in case it happens to anybody else.

Glad you were able to get it straightened out.

I know it must be extremely irritating to have that happen to you.

I know right? Especially when money is dependent upon the blog running smoothly. I mean Christmas is soon.

So why don't you give us a hint in case one of us falls into the same pit?

I agree. There are perhaps thousands of people who don't know how to fix this situation, and their income is dependent upon it. This stuff is complicated, and though I consider myself to be quite savvy online, I wouldn't have a clue where to start with fixing this sort of thing.

Good to know you got rid of the malware! How did you clean it up? Maybe you can share some steps in case we encounter a similar issue so we'd know what to do.

That is true. Not only irritating but some of my ads placement there are compromise and they would be pulled out by the advertisers if my blog hadn't been resolved.

The problem for google blocking your website as malware is caused by the ads of the website in 95% of the cases. So that is the first thing you have to check. Remove all ads and wait few days to see if it gets whitelsited.

Why I noticed that my blog was infected by virus for I was informed by one my friends in Facebook, who kept on following it. He told me that when he opened it, he was prompted by a notice that it was. I right away had checked by Google Security check which indicates that "it is too dangerous" for others to open or else they will be infected too.

Since, that blog gives me bread, I have to get rid of the virus before it is too. Or before my subscribers, followers and advertisers will withdraw their support. One or two advertisers had already informed me that their ads are not visible.
This is what I did was to ask Dr. Google Search and this is what it prescribed me:

1. Remove the widget installed in the blog.
2. Remove any link to sites found in the blog.
3. Remove scripts integrated in the HTML platform of your blog.

Since I am no expert on what to interpret them, I did the try-and-error manner of getting rid of that virus. In less that a week, I was able to normalize my blog integrity. I check it again with Google Security and it is no longer in "dangerous" status, but it is in 'safe".

Well, I'm glad you were able to resolve the situation. That does sound like a rather laborious method of going about it, but I'm glad it's all good now.
