Published Author - Writing for the Internet

Postby oldfriend » 12 Dec 2015, 13:25

I have written technical articles for several years before retiring and now find myself trying to write for the internet.

This makes me write "Keyword" oriented and also makes me write different.

In a technical article I have the reader's attention and they are reading my article because of interest in the subject or to learn from the article.

In my internet writing, I find my self having to write for someone who scans the page and maybe, at best, will give me 5 seconds to review my article.

This forces me to write the 1st sentence of the paragraph very persuasive and use the rest of the paragraph for filler.

It also forces me to leave a lot of white space and use a lot of pictures.

Anyone else share this dilemma?

My style is simple. Since I am posting my articles for my Internet readers. Time is so vital or essential. I may limit the number of words which my post could have. And I never run around the bus. I go direct to what my title suggest.

i would think if they did a search for your subject they would be interested in what you have to say. what is your blog about in general just a slice of life or something specific. on my personal blog i just write about what bothers me and current event. on my getting money blog i try to help others get money through the sites i use and tell them the ups and downs

I guess it depends on what kind of topics you get for "writing for the internet". I also accept freelance writing commitments thru freelancing websites but I try to pick the topics I will write for and projects to accept. Sure, it will mean that I get to earn less but I get to write on the topics I enjoy.
