The Arctic in a perilious state: A Chilling Record

Postby ptrikha21 » 28 Mar 2026, 16:25

Code Red. That could aptly summarize Arctic's current condition.
Recent satellite data from the "National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC)" confirms that March 2026 has tied with last year for the lowest winter ice maximum on record.
We are witnessing a "very alarming" trend where the ice is not just shrinking in area—covering 1.36 million square kilometers less than the historical average—but is also significantly thinner.
This fragile state gives the summer melt a massive head start, threatening global weather stability. It seems the Earth’s air conditioner is officially on the fritz.

Code Red is right... very scary times indeed! I don't get how anyone can doubt the effects of climate change/global warming  We're seeing it everywhere! In all my life, I don't think I've ever experienced a wetter summer than this year. Rivers are bursting their banks, floods everywhere and it's been raining incessantly. Sometimes it feels like we're in the UK. Crazy times.

Weather is so unpredictable. It got so warm by early March here.
Then a lot of rain and the mercury dipped to levels of early February !
And we still see clouds in between warm weather.
It is getting so unpredictable !

This is why more countries needed to use electric cars, and this is why more tropical and desert locations should do reforestation.

Yes but that can better happen in a world where wars take a backstage.

Isn't it infuriating that the quest for riches always takes precedence over environmental concerns!
