Kuno National park(India)’s New Generation: The Wild-Born Milestone

Postby ptrikha21 » 14 Apr 2026, 16:48

India’s ambitious Project Cheetah has achieved a historic breakthrough at Kuno National Park. A 25-month-old female cheetah, herself born in India to the South African translocated cheetah Gamini, has delivered four cubs in the open forest.
This event marks the first recorded cheetah birth in the wild since the reintroduction program commenced. Minister Bhupender Yadav confirmed that India’s total cheetah population has reached 57, with 31 individuals born locally.
This transition to natural breeding in the wild signals a major milestone for conservation.
A good news for this experiment !

That's great news and very exciting. I hope those cubs grow and prosper. All going well there will be a great community of cheetahs in the national park.

Yes and well, that means the Project has had a good success even with some limitations and initial setbacks.

Good for India to midwife this cheetah birth.

But, I tend to think that many governments give more value to wildlife than to humans.
What do you think?
