Do you have a garden?

Postby bestwriter » 18 May 2026, 01:54

I have a garden where I grow severa; fruit trees and flowering plants. We sometimes have no takers for our fruits.

What do you grow?

We don't have an official garden though, but there is a very small space at our back we have tried planting a thing or two there.

Yes. I grow fruit trees, a couple of herbs and some flowers. I haven't done much maintainance in a long time because I've been busy so it's a bit overgrown. I might plant some flowers for spring this year if I get around to it.

A garden needs pampering if you want it to satisfy you.

I kinda like it at least somewhat overgrown. It brings bees, butterflies and birds.

We have a small garden in India and bigger ones in Australia where we mostly grow fruits, flowers and vegetables. In Australia of course having larger areas in our houses we have bigger lawns in 3 sides while the fourth is reserved for small plants and gadgets. In India we have a couple of mango trees and pomegranate besides a couple of flower plants, By the way, I have seen your garden with decoration ideas so there is no comparison with yours.

It's a whole continent so the climate varies depending on where exactly you are. It depends on what you want to grow as well. Up north you can grow tropical plants and trees, down south you can grow plants that like a bit more cold. Where I live it's harder to grow a lot of European plants because it gets too hot, but there is still enough of a winter that some tropical plants will die if you don't keep them in a greenhouse or something. I can grow a few herbs without much effort, and I have some subtropical fruit trees.

We need to buy soil from market from time to time. Lanscaping is a big businss there so we have to spend money to maintain our gardens.

I am giving you a few here (My Canberra house) for a rough idea. BTW some parts of Australia is okay like Canberra and NSW but some parts are totally rocky and in some part only certain plants are possible. Remember Australia has the most forest fires due to heavy plantation.

Your garden looks nice.

I can't take photos of mine right now but I don't have as much lawn, mostly trees and shrubs.

I think the number of bushfires we have is mainly down to climate change. It can be really scary. My home was just outside of the evacuation zone for one a couple of years ago.

Water can be a big expense for gardening here. It helps if you have a rainwater tank.

I guess you're talking about the one happened in 2019. I remember, how cangaroos were all over the place in Canberra. We later went to see places where millions were burnt alive including insects and small animals. We also visited Tidbinbilla where they have memorials and plates for those burnt animals. I can understand how you felt during that period as we stayed inside due to smoke and all outside activities were banned. I also remember the one took place in 2013. I used to live in Sydney at that time.
