I found out something about parrots

Postby Netherrealmer » 16 Apr 2026, 12:57

So a friend of mine owns a parrot and i asked if i can pet her parrot and she told me yes but she said that only on the face. Do not pet a parrot like it's a cat or a dog. Apparently touching its body especially the back touching the body of a parrot is you giving it a mixed message. If you touch a parrot's body it will be sexual for them. So if you encounter a parrot and person only touch the face do not touch the body especially the back because they see at a sexual. It will give the parrot wrong information like you are seducing the bird

That is something very remarkable.
I do not think most people would be aware about this.

That's why some parrot owners have no idea why their parrot is so clingy to them, or why their parrot attacks their boyfriend or girlfriend. They didn't know that if you touch a parrot's body, it will think that you are lovers.

Specifically, if you touch the body of a parrot, they can get in heat even though it's not on season. So it's gonna be hell to live with. If you will notice, when people touch their pet parrot, usually on the feet and also on the face, not on the body. Do not touch the body.

This is a parrot in heat, Usually heat have schedule but the heat can come earlier if you touch their body

This woman touches the body of her parrot a lot, so the parrot became jealous when she ends up having a boyfriend. The parrot keeps attacking her boyfriend.

If you plan on having a parrot, remember, do not touch its body. Only touch the face and the feet.

I've had friends who had birds, but none of them had parrots. I never had a bird, but I don't like the idea of them being in cages. My Facebook friend has a birdhouse and always takes photos of the different birds that visit.

That's really interesting. I used to live with a guy who had a parrot and as far as I remember I just petted her head but he used to pet her body and she would get weird and jealous if anyone else touched him (like to give him a hug or something) because she considered him her mate.

yeah, I don't like the idea of them being in cages either. I had a budgie when I was a kid but now the idea makes me sad.

I came across a picture of parrots that are extremely big, like eagles and other birds, i didn't know parrots could be that big.

By the way their lifespan is like around 60 years old so this is one of the pets that you know you have to commit

I think horses do not want people behind them or people touching their lower legs. They tend to kick people on those incidents, but we don't mind being pet on the face and the body, I think.

60 years is a long time, i wasn't expecting birds to be able to live that long.

I have noticed that people design their gardens to attract birds or butterflies.

Depends on the type. Indian Ringnecks (one of the ones in the videos above looks like one in the still shot) live for 25- 30 years. Still a pretty big commitment. Smaller birds usually have shorter lifespans, so like up to 15 years for a budgie.

Yeah. I do that. I have lots of flowering plants for the butterflies and bees, and a tree that attracts King Parrots.

I never built a birdhouse, but I did rent a home that had a birdhouse in the backyard. It was quite nice.
