(that's why I'm putting this in the "Technology"-category rather than "Off Topic" ... where the admin might move it anyway ...)

That's right, President George H.W. Bush passed-away at age 94.

But it kinda 'strikes me as "odd"' the way I found out ... I found out when I saw CBS NEWS' special report they announced right in the middle of Stephen Colbert's LATE NIGHT-interview of former-First Lady Michelle Obama---RECORDED ON DVR!

And I still 'have' the recording (i.e. it's listed on the digital-list of recordings I can access on my AT&T U-VERSE database), and I think I'll keep it (for as long as I can) as kind of a "sign of the changing times."

(I know it might be proper to call him "former President" or "ex-President"; but I think they retain the title 'President' for the rest of their lives, don't they?)

Well there were some significant events including demise of USSR aND Gulf War -1991 during his time. Also American relations with India improved slightly during his reign.

Maybe, maybe, maybe ... but my point was (as @MysticMoons at least touched-on) that I found out through 'modern technology' and not the normal "we interrupt your programming"-announcement (although it was an 'interruption of normal programming' that I DVR'd---The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's interview of former-FLOTUS Michelle Obama ... an interview you can watch uninterrupted here):

I give you a hint "Islamic State creation" , try to google it and check how the situation in the middle east has developed in the last decades, than you will understand my comment, and I am not even speaking about other stuff that will be exposed with time.
