Responding to “New Member Introductions”

Postby OldGuy » 22 Jun 2025, 19:15

There is a section on ForumCoin called New Member Introductions. The concept is simple. New members are invited to introduce themselves as they join in so the existing active members can welcome them to the gang.

The problem is, many new members seem to find that section and leave a brief post, but then that same member will move on to other interests soon after and will never see any of the posted replies.

If you see a new member introduction, look at the date it was posted. If it was not posted today or within the last couple of days, look at that member's profile page. Look specifically at the last date they visited the site. If there is no recent activity, there is no sense in posting any welcome message. It is a wasted post.

As it is right this moment, there are only two intro letters posted in 2025. One posted in January, and the last date that member visited the site was in February. The other was posted back in March. The last visit from that member was March 26. It is already too late to welcome either member.

All the rest currently displayed are from 2024 and earlier. New members who post a new member introduction rarely stick around for long. In fact, there is only one on all of page 1 who is still currently active as of this post.

It is always nice to welcome new members, but at least make sure they are still around before you post a reply.

Thanks OldGuy, when joining a new community it is always nice to receive a warm welcome from existing members, so we do encourage existing members to reply to introduction topics.

I am always happy to welcome new members to any forum that I am part of. Having new members means more perspectives to share, more things to learn and more activities on the site. But then there is no point of welcoming someone who joined a long back or has left the site.

Hats off to you OldGuy. This is one of the effective way to make the new comer or member in this to feel at home.

Just imagine you're new to this site and nobody has noticed you. How do you feel? You're hear not only get paid of what you're going to share or post but of course to meet friends, to get well acquainted with them.

If you're unnoticed, it seems you're virtually rejected.

For me this site is a family. Every member is a family member who needs to be taken cared of. And it's initially done by OldGuy if not.

OldGuy is very thoughtful, friendly and helful in his own unique way. I salute him. May his tribe flourish ❤️ 😍

Yes it is a good concept. However, I have seen that many a times, people are not regular after their first few posts.

Hi there! 😊 Thanks for the heads-up about the New Member Introductions section. It makes sense to check member activity before posting a welcome message to ensure they’re still around. I appreciate the insight into the recent trends, and I’ll definitely keep an eye on the dates and activity levels moving forward. Let’s keep the spirit of welcoming alive while focusing on those who are actively engaging!
