reduce spending on pet food

Postby Yugocean » 28 Nov 2022, 07:38

If you believe the advertisements that have been running for a long time, you will think that only pet food should be fed to your pet, but this is not the case. Pet food is a marketing ploy that began with busy people who did not have time to prepare food for their pets.

Your pet will eat what you eat. You can even give your leftovers to pets. Only this much care has to be taken so that the pet gets food according to its nature. For example, if you are a vegetarian, either don't keep non-vegetarian pets like dogs and cats or buy some non-vegetarian items for them from time to time. But pet food is not mandatory.

My adult dogs can have some human food. For the puppies, I would still give them dog food. Once they turned adult, they can have some of what I also eat every day.

Chicken heads and chicken feed are cheap, that is what I feed to my cats and dogs now. I just boil them with rice and sweet potatoes. The butcher even give me the intestine for chickens for free. I also buy the cheapest fish in the market.

My sister cook food only for our pet dogs. She add vegetables to make it healthy. Our pets are hard to feed sometimes they don't like plain pet foods

Even in earlier days, people had pets and there was no pet food market. Pets did well then too. They were healthy and happy. Now a days, the market has flourished just like the baby care market. A simple home cooked food is good enough for the pets. And they enjoy it too.

Read what arunima posted above, pet food isn't mandatory, you can feed what you eat. I too never gave petfoods when we had pets.

I give leftovers to my pets but I also have pet food at home, if I don't have enough leftovers I always something for them to eat.
Pet food is very expensive nowadays, many people won't have pets because of this terrible prices.

Leftovers are not healthy though. Cats need taurine or they will go blind and dogs needs protein. That's why I feed offals like chicken heads and feet for my dogs and the cheapest fish for my cats.

Cats can only get taurine from fish. The guts and head of the fish have taurine so you can save money from that.

When people give me their unwanted coupons, I have no luck anymore!

My roommate's cat strikes it rich though. The coupons are always loaded with dog and cat coupons!

Litter. Food. Treats.

I do not feed the cat people food. Would I eat cat food? No.

Incidentally, I have two pet turtles, which at first I fed them processed pellets every day. But the more I came here, the more information I got that they could actually eat vegetables and even leaves, and finally I gradually replaced the food with leaves in my yard like starfruit leaves, or hibiscus leaves and they are now eating leaves without needing any more pellets.

I go to the abbatoir and pick bones that are splashed out from slaughtering cows. I get blood meal and add to the bones with poultry feed, and serve the pets. They look very healthy.

For me l said no to pets. This is because the cost of bringing up pets is very expensive and l don't like the Idea for depriving them their needs.

An average person can't keep a pet now but they can be very useful. Owning a dog is cheaper than employing a security man.

You are right. We don't need to buy expensive pet food and can get it managed from leftovers

This meal is very healthy for dogs. Rich in protein and carbs. Dog noodles is not easy to buy nowadays.

Leftovers can really help us to save on pet foods. Go to restaurants and get leftovers for free.
