It's good to start thinking of saving money as a student. Yes, instead of buying new textbooks, you can use second hand textbooks. You can also save by not eating out in Canteen, bring your own lunch.

It's good saving money tip. I have taken the tip to buy or rent used books as the content is the same as the new expensive ones.

There are so many mistakes i made back then in school, to be honest if i have these ideas or even half of the things i am doing now, things would have been a lot different back then in school. As a student is extremely important to learn how to save.

As much as you can, get textbooks from senior colleagues. You would save money by not buying a new one.

It's true you can save that but it depends on the allowance you are given by your parents. If you are give alot you can save as much but if the money you are given is not enough for your need it will be hard. I think the only way out is finding a part time source of income to helo you out.

I've never heard of renting text books. At my university you can buy them new or secondhand, or borrow them from the library. Some are available to access online. Sometimes you do have to buy them though, because new editions come out which are not the same, so you can't use the older ones any more. It's annoying but there's not much you can do about it.

I am always for allowing the first year students to learn the hardness of the school system through experience. N

If at all, search for ways to avoid having a meal plan! Many schools require a meal plan for dormers.

Ask, instead, to have a microwave and coffee maker in your dorm. Do your own grocery shopping at dollar stores.
