You can buy a protective case for a tablet to shield it from being dropped. That's a good idea for adults too, not just kids. I'm not saying kids need an iPad, just that they can have one and not break it (depending on their age anyway).

You don't even need to do much to create fun for the kids nowadays. Just getting them a low end smartphone that costs $18. They would be having much fun with cartoons.

Where can you get a low end smartphone that costs $18? Even secondhand they're a lot more expensive than that here.

I don't know what you mean by caution here. If it means you need to go all out for the kids this period, it won't be waste. This season only comes once a year.
