You are very right, sometimes buying food that last months is the best as you won't need to bother about that any longer and also increase concentration.

Don't make a mistake to think that you are going to rely on the school cafeteria for your meals as a student in general if your parents are not super rich. Use the hostel kitchens to cook your food by yourself.

Yes bulk buying will save both time and money. But know what you are buying to avoid counter production

Make sure that you don't live beyond your means, and don't impress people that you don't even know.

As a student, try to relate well with your roommate or hostel mate so that you guys can be doing joint cooking which would help you save money because your foodstuff won't finish fast.

Aa a student, they were campus shuttle buses that used to convey students from their lodges to lecture halls at highly subsidized rates but you have to be very early to catch these buses before they get full and leave in the morning. I used to greatly take advantage of these buses. Never slept late so I could wake up early to catch these shuttles buses and save money.

As much as possible, make sure you use the resources found in the campus. They might be cheaper or even free. Also, stay in the school hostel. It is cheaper than getting an off campus accomodation.

In my university, the school health center treats students ho have done their health clearance completely free of charge. A university student should take advantage of that to save money when he or she is sick for universities that have it.

Take into consideration the cafeteria. You do not need a food plan.

Keep a microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker in your dorm.

Food plans are astronomical.

How would a first year student be able to afford all these equipment? Maybe, I am talking from my county's point of view because getting all those household equipment would be a luxury. I understand that it would help tye student drastically reduce food bills.
