Re: Do not disclose your happiness or achievement at work

I am naturally a quiet person and doesn't need that publicity especially in my kind of society where everyone seems entitled.

co-workers keep pressuring for party for any achievement, so best is to remain out of sharing about it. You keep your birthday safe too, better.

Sometimes it is right not to display happiness at work so that you will not attract jealousy.

That's right, I agree with you. I don't celebrate accomplishments, the happiness of accomplishments I feel alone secretly. I don't need recognition. :D

Why would you need to blow your trumpet and attract unnecessary attention to yourself.

It is very important to keep it personal most especially if you are at the development stage.

According to me you can tell some people your achievement if they are your friends or if asked about it. For the party part you can just decide not to hold a party. Will you be asked/forced to throw one? Just dont hold a party if you dont want to.

You don't know how subtle remarks can make you want to just do it and silence them.

Yugocean wrote:At the work place, there are often such people who demand party on everything. Sometimes they even ask for big parties. This expenditure breaks your budget. That's why don't tell any of your happy occasion or achievement of any goal at the work place. You can celebrate your happiness with your family as long as you have a regular budget for the family. To balance the expenditure, do not express happiness outside.

This will surely help to save cost, imagine when you celebrate your every win by organising different parties , it will surely have an effect on your budget.

Don't be in a hurry to tell people of your achievement and source of happiness. People ruin beautiful things.

To be on the safer side, it's beat to not let people know too much about you. There are certain things you need to keep secret or private.

If you even disclose some financial achievements at work, your boss might even feel comfortable delaying your salary believing that it would not affect you that much. In fact, always do as if you are going to die.

Especially to greedy family members. There will be waiting for you to take care of them so don't disclose to them anything

Re: Do not disclose your happiness or achievement at work

Back when I was working, I never saw any reason to share any personal news that revealed my own happiness, or about any particular achievement. There was never any reason or even any opportunity to do so. Everyone just did their own work and pretty much kept personal issues to themselves.

However, when you are truly happy, it is difficult at best to keep that a secret. You don't have to tell anyone why you are always smiling or in a good mood, they can just see it in how you handle yourself through the day. Even family doesn't need all the details. There is no hint of any reason to celebrate or throw a party. Don't tell all your secrets. Just keep them guessing and enjoy your day.

But I am just wondering how I would start throwing a party just to make one person happy. Doesn't make sense at all to me. I won't do it. I can't be remote controlled. If you are not forum, people would just push you to spend unnecessarily.

They might still get to hear about it. Just let them be. No one can force you to celebrate anything. Let them know your stance on things like that.

There are some people that just subtly beg without shame. You move to a new house, you must celebrate, you passed an exams, you must celebrate while they don't celebrate anything.

I have experienced this a couple of times. I bought a new phone and I was pressured to buy drinks to celebrate it. I now have to spend extra because I could afford to buy a phone. Nowadays, whatever I get, I keep it to myself. If I am asked, I say it is an old stuff that was just being saved up somewhere.
